Romy & Will’s Nostalgic December Wedding in Liverpool

I’ve got the most gorgeous intimate Wedding on 35mm Film to share with you!

Worried your wedding might feel too much performance instead of celebration? That’s exactly what Romy and Will wanted to avoid. After ten years together, they wanted their wedding day to feel like them: intimate, timeless, and stripped back. Their December wedding in Liverpool was all of that and more — a day filled with love, laughter, and a touch of Christmas magic. And I was lucky enough to capture it all on 35mm film.

Let’s dive in.

A Timeless First Look at St. George’s Hall

Romy and Will decided to skip the traditional “walk down the aisle” moment and opted for something truly special: a first look.

They met at the steps of St. George’s Hall, under the soft winter light. It was just the two of them (well, and me, lurking with my camera!) taking a quiet moment together before walking into the ceremony hand-in-hand.

Shooting this on film made it feel even more cinematic. Each frame felt like it belonged in a classic love story.

A Festive Start: Mulled Wine & Christmas Markets

Liverpool’s Christmas Market added a bit of magic to the day. After the ceremony, their guests gathered for welcome drinks — mulled wine, of course — before heading to the next stop.

The warmth of the spiced drinks against the crisp December air set the tone for a relaxed, intimate celebration. Everyone was smiling, chatting, and soaking up the festive vibes.

Champagne at The Ivy

After the ceremony, Romy and Will did something I always recommend: they took some time for just the two of them.

We wandered over to The Ivy, where they popped a bottle of champagne and took it all in. No rushing, no big crowds — just them, celebrating their first moments as a married couple.

This is where shooting on film truly shines. The grain, the colours, the imperfections — it captures the realness of those in-between moments in a way digital simply can’t.

Her Dress, His Style

Romy’s bespoke dress by Joe & Joe Atelier was nothing short of stunning. Minimalist, elegant, and entirely her. She paired it with a gorgeous pair of Zara heels that added just the right amount of edge.

Will kept it classic with a tailored suit that complemented Romy’s timeless style perfectly. They looked like they stepped out of an old movie — and that’s exactly how the photos feel, too.

Dinner at The Municipal

Their private dinner at The Municipal Hotel was intimate and personal. Just their nearest and dearest around a beautifully set table, sharing stories and laughs.

The highlight? The cakes! Three of them, including a bold black cake and a cheesecake that had everyone swooning. It’s those little unexpected touches that make a wedding unforgettable.

Why Film Photography Was Perfect for Romy & Will

Romy and Will chose film because they wanted their wedding photos to feel timeless. They loved the cinematic, nostalgic vibe that film brings — and honestly, I think it was the perfect choice for them.

Here’s why you might want to consider film for your wedding:

  • It’s timeless: Film has a way of making your photos look like they belong to another era.
  • It’s honest: Film captures the real light, the real colours, and all the little imperfections that make moments feel genuine.
  • It slows things down: Shooting on film forces everyone to take a step back and really focus on what matters.

If you want your wedding photos to feel less like a Pinterest board and more like a classic love story, 35mm film might be just what you’re looking for.
